Ruchika Lohiya on Poetry, Storytelling & Self-Love

Ruchika Lohiya

When I first came across Ruchika Lohiya ’s work, I was struck by the raw honesty in her poetry, the seamless way she weaves storytelling with emotion, and how effortlessly she captures the intricacies of life. In an era of fleeting trends, her words linger—resonating with those seeking depth, connection, and self-reflection. What better way to celebrate love this Valentine’s Day than by embracing self-expression and authenticity?

Sitting down with her, I wanted to know: What inspired your unique storytelling approach, blending poetry and emotion?

She smiled thoughtfully before answering. “It wasn’t one single inspiration—it was a need. Writing, for me, has always been about processing my emotions and understanding the chaos inside me. We all experience so many feelings daily, with countless unsaid words and thoughts bottled up. Poetry and storytelling became my way to release them. It’s my world with no rules, no boundaries—just freedom. And that feeling of freedom is what truly inspires me.”

Beyond being a poet, Ruchika Lohiya is a storyteller, director, and speaker—a true creative force. How does she balance these roles while keeping her creative energy flowing?

“You see, everything I do is interconnected,” she explained. “At the heart of it all, I’m simply putting out stories—whether it’s through words, visuals, or voice. Each form complements the other. My best poetry comes when I’m most relaxed, sitting comfortably with a cup of coffee, lost in thought. The key is to feel deeply, and the rest flows naturally. Creativity isn’t something I force—it’s something I trust.”

In a world that often glorifies the hustle, how does she prioritize her well-being, especially regarding fitness and diet?

“I try my best to eat clean,” she admitted. “Though I fail sometimes, I always make an effort. Traveling across India keeps me on my toes, and I can’t always stick to a gym routine, but I walk every day. No matter how busy I am, I complete my steps before I sleep. Walking isn’t just movement—it’s time with myself.”

Since self-love is such a core theme in her work, what does self-love truly mean to her?

“It’s simple,” she said with a smile. “It’s the little things I push myself to do every day, even when they’re hard—because they matter for my growth. Taking care of my body, spending time in nature, and being close to my family are all forms of self-love. I also believe in taking breaks whenever I need them. I don’t force myself to keep going when my body or mind needs rest. Patience with myself is my biggest act of self-love.”

As a content creator in the fast-paced world of digital media, how does she stay relevant while staying true to herself?

“I merge trends with my original content,” she said. “But I’m not a big follower of trends. People love listening to poetry—something real, raw, and authentic. So I stick to that. Trends may come and go, but authenticity lasts.”

As we wrapped up our conversation, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by her unwavering commitment to staying true to herself. Ruchika Lohiya isn’t just a creator—she’s a soul storyteller, a poet of the heart, and a believer in the power of words.

This Valentine’s Day, take a cue from her journey: embrace your voice, honor your emotions, and above all, love yourself through your story.
