Namita Nayyar:
There is a big misconception that one needs to consume animal sources of protein (eggs and meat etc) to get adequate protein in one’s diet. Can you clarify this and how plant-based protein can serve well?
Roshni Sanghvi:
Plants have all the nutrients you need, including proteins. Plant-forward diets help in promoting longevity, and disease prevention and even improve gut health! More and more athletes are now switching towards eating more plants because it not only serves your protein requirements but also helps with faster recovery, lower inflammation rates, and improved immunity. We rarely look at nutrients individually, like animals for their proteins. We must look at food as a whole. Besides proteins, does your food have anti-oxidant agents, phytonutrients, immune-boosting properties, etc? Plant-based eating style is holistically good for the system.
Namita Nayyar:
You have trained yourself in alternative therapy forms such as the Wim Hoff breathing method and QiGong meditation. According to you does effective breathing and meditation help in healing and prevent weight gain? Also please tell our followers more about Wim Hoff’s breathing method.
Roshni Sanghvi:
Your overall lifestyle habits determine your weight. Let’s say I have bad circadian health and eat at late hours in the night. I will gain weight even if I am eating healthily and choose to eat a Kale salad at midnight. This is because your body is less efficient in storing food as fat in the morning, but becomes more efficient at the same by evening. Thus, one lifestyle habit- bad circadian health- will have a domino effect on other systems of the body.
The Wim Hoff method or QiGong, are healthy addition to your lifestyle because it plays a role in overall wellness and stimulates the vagus nerve. This helps with emotional management, gut health, boosting metabolism, and much more!
