Ms. Namita Nayyar:
Was it scary when you thought of participating in Bigg Boss, given that you’d had no prior exposure to TV? How did your family take it?
Ms. Nitibha Kaul:
Well, of course, it was scary, firstly, because I had no idea what I was getting into honestly at that point, I was just 23 years old. I wanted to try out new things in life and take risks.
So I really didn’t see what was coming my way because once I was on the show, I realized how difficult it is to survive in it, how all these people who have had years and years of industry experience, of being in front of the camera and knew exactly the right things to do in the right things to do. And I had no experience whatsoever, I felt very lost. But I believe, “Daar Ke Aage Jeet Hai”, I feel like when you embrace your fears, when you do something out of your comfort zone and take risks, that’s when you push yourself to do something you never imagined you would do and achieve.
And that’s what happened to me,I went into big boss, a naive young girl who did not really know what she was getting into. But I came out, you know, as a person who the entire country loved. And with regards to my family, yes they were also very apprehensive because they knew that I had a very steady job profile and a career, that Google had always been a very studious student.
So for them to even entertain the idea that I’m going to quit my job offer, a reality show was quite a bit crazy. But one thing I have to give credit to my parents, and especially my father, is the fact that they always were supportive, even in my wacky decisions. They didn’t make me feel like I was alone they always gave me their point of view. But once I had taken a decision, they always supported me. So I will always be grateful for that open-mindedness that came from them.
Ms. Namita Nayyar:
After Bigg Boss you didn’t take the route of acting and modelling and rather ventured as a content creator, share your mind space then? Also, after making an exit from the show, you have been surprising us with your stunning pictures, what all lead to this major transformation?
Ms. Nitibha Kaul:
Well, first of all, thank you, there’s a lot of work that goes behind the stunning pictures as they all look effortless and breezy, but the kind of brainstorming, ideation, and background work that goes behind the scenes of all those amazing pictures is basically the job of content creation. And that is something that obviously didn’t come naturally to me after big boss, because, of course, the first thing everyone says you have come out of the show and you gain popularity. Now you want to try modeling or you wanted to act. And that’s exactly why I’d move to Bombay as well right after because I was there for nine months.
But during those nine months, I actually ended up doing a lot of events instead of actually acting work, and I started working with brands and also launched my YouTube channel. So social media was something that was always ingrained inside me. I was always interested in posting online even while I was at Google. I used to be extremely, extremely active on stories, on Instagram, on Facebook, on Snapchat.
So it was just a very natural progression, to be able to share my life and update people about what I’m doing on social media, And I think brands noticed that very soon and wanted me to endorse their products and during this time also realize that acting is something that I don’t wish to pursue because I never felt passionate about it. I never had a dream of becoming an actor.
So it was just something that was forced upon me as a natural consequence of coming out of a reality show. But then it took me a few months to just realize that I wasn’t cut out for the do. I got a lot of offers from production houses very big names. They wanted me to act and the TV soaps, etc. but I decided to go on and host a show with MTV after which I moved back to Delhi. And the rest is history.
