National Women’s Day 2021 is celebrated on Sarojini Naidu’s birthday which is on February 13.
Naidu is one of the most recognized women in the Indian freedom movement. She charted new territories and played a crucial role in a society dominated by men at the time.
She became the president of Indian National Congress in 1925 and participated in Salt Satyagraha in 1930. She also presided the East African Indian Congress in South Africa.
The primary goal of the day is to make honour Sarojini Naidu and recognise powerful women like her in India’s history and also to inspire others to walk down the same path.
As we remember her on her birthday, there are inspiring quotes shared by her below
“When there is oppression, the only self-respecting thing is to rise and say this shall cease today because my right is justice. If you are stronger, you have to help the weaker boy or girl both in play and in the work.”
“A country’s greatness lies in its undying ideals of love and sacrifice that inspire the mothers of the race.”
Naidu was listed among “150 Leading Women” list by the University of London in the United Kingdom in 2018.
Aspire to be your best on National Women’s Day 2021.
