When I first connected with Kinnari Jain, better known as The Pear Shaped Stylist, I was drawn to her refreshing take on fashion—one that celebrates individuality, self-love, and the beauty of embracing one’s unique body shape. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, what better time to talk about loving yourself through personal style?
Sitting down with her, I was eager to know: What inspired you to start this journey?
She smiled, reminiscing about her early days. “My passion for styling started long before I created this platform. While working in the U.S., I was exposed to diverse cultures and fashion influences that deeply inspired me. I started analyzing what worked best for my body and why. Understanding proportions and body shapes became second nature to me.
At the same time, I was following incredible style influencers in the West who created logic-based fashion content. When I moved back to India, I realized there was a gap—nobody was talking about styling in a way that felt personal and empowering. That’s when I decided to start this page as a side hustle alongside my 9-to-5 job. Over time, it has evolved, becoming more engaging and interactive. But the essence remains the same: to help women embrace their unique style with confidence.”
I was curious—what are her top three tips for women trying to find their style?
She didn’t hesitate. “First, wear what makes you feel best. It’s about both aesthetics and comfort. The more we dress according to our taste, the more confident we feel.
Second, be intentional. Pay attention to what you naturally gravitate towards—what you pick out in the morning, what you’re drawn to when shopping. Take pictures of your outfits to notice patterns in your choices. Style is a journey, and being mindful of what resonates with you helps refine it.
And lastly, remember that wanting to look good isn’t vain—it’s empowering. Feeling good in what you wear boosts confidence and gives you the energy to take on the day.”
Her words resonated deeply. So how does self-love tie into style?
“All my content is about self-love,” she explained. “It’s about dressing for yourself, not based on what’s trending. Style should always be personal. When you accept and love your body as it is, choosing outfits that make you feel amazing becomes effortless.”
As a fitness magazine, we often talk about holistic well-being, so I had to ask: Does fitness and diet play a role in your lifestyle?
“Absolutely,” she said. “But for me, it’s less about the physical aspect and more about mental well-being. Staying active keeps my mind sharp and my creativity flowing, which is so important as a content creator.”
One of the things I admire most about her is how she debunks myths surrounding pear-shaped styling. What are some misconceptions she loves to challenge?
She laughed. “There are so many! One common myth is that styling a pear-shaped body means hiding the hips. That’s not true—dressing well is about embracing your curves while balancing proportions.
Another is that high-waisted clothing makes hips look wider. High waists highlight the naturally beautiful waistline of pear-shaped women, accentuating curves in a flattering way.
And then there’s the myth that pear-shaped women shouldn’t wear bodycon dresses. False! You can wear anything, as long as you balance the overall silhouette—like adding volume near the chest, embellishments at the neckline, or opting for wider necklines.”
As our conversation came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel inspired. Kinnari Jain, aka The Pear Shaped Stylist, is more than just a fashion influencer—she’s an advocate for self-love, confidence, and celebrating your unique beauty.
So this Valentine’s Day, take a page from her book—embrace yourself, dress for you, and fall in love with your style.
