India needs to focus more on pro-women policies as the nation cannot wait for 200 years to achieve gender parity, says a report by CII Indian Women Network Western Region.
“We have to create more pro-women policies to impact the misogynistic currents in Indian society and workplaces. It’s time to converge all our energies to work on this we cannot wait another 200 years,” Pallavi Jha, chairperson, CII IWN Western Region, said in a statement today.
The survey, by industry body CII’s Indian Women Network (IWN), said that unconscious bias, ineffective implementation of policies, less number of women in leadership roles and lack of awareness about the benefits of gender diversity are some of the major challenges that hinder the progress of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
The report also said that 69 per cent of organisations participated have been unable to understand the financial benefits of diversity.
