Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What exercises comprise your fitness regime or workout routine?

Ms. Namrata Purohit:

Pilates is my constant! I cannot live without it.. I also do pole fitness a few times in the week because it makes me feel amazing and strong. I do trampoline twice a week as it is the most fun way to get my cardio in and I do barre and EMS once a week.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Tell us about the food/meal routine that you follow to remain healthy and physically fit?

Ms. Namrata Purohit:

I eat at regular intervals to ensure I don’t get hungry and then crave or eat whatever is within reach! I think that is the most important thing. And ofcourse I stay hydrated and drink atleast 3 litres of water a day. Breakfast is my main meal and I have a nice filling healthy breakfast.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

How would you explain that Pilates as an exercise form helps in leading a fit & healthy lifestyle?

Ms. Namrata Purohit:

Pilates was started during World War II for men at war and then transformed for ballet and contemporary dancers. So when you do Pilates you get the strength and endurance of a warrior and the flexibility, balance and agility of a dancer. It is like getting the best of both worlds! Pilates is also an extremely safe form of exercise, as there is no impact on the joints and the chance of injury is almost zero. Anybody and everybody can do and enjoy Pilates!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What would be your 3 Do’s & Don’t’s for someone who’s just beginning to learn Pilates?

Ms. Namrata Purohit:

–> Do ensure the trainer or studio you join is recognised and qualified to teach.
–> Do train with a trainer and preferably using the Pilates equipment as well.
–> Understand the form and ideology behind an exercise, as this is a mind body form of exercise.

–> Do not rush the training, the first few classes are the most important to understand the basics.
–> Don’t overtrain, Pilates works big as well as small muscles in the body. When done right it is an extremely challenging form of exercise. There is a popular saying, “Pilates is easy, until it is done right’
–> Although Pilates is like Magic, do not expect miracles. Nothing can work without a good balanced nutritional plan.
